Nursery Cuts Hit Adult Learning

With many colleges and universities facing cuts in funding of up to 400 million pounds, it perhaps comes as no surprise that up to 20 nurseries on campuses across the UK are now facing closure.

It seems that in an attempt to reduce expenditure, many universities and colleges see cutting the childcare facilities at their locations as acceptable.

Unison however sees things very differently and has pointed out that these closures will result in many parents not being able to continue their studies.

Mark Burdett, of NCi Nursery, The UK Nursery Insurance Brokers had this to say, “It’s clear from speaking to our nursery clients on a daily basis that many businesses in the pre-school sector are struggling. Our aim is to try and help those who remain in business to get the protection they need for less. We only hope this latest news of closures isn’t replicated on a larger scale.”
