Children In Need - More Success in 2009

Following BBC's Children in Need latest telethon and fund raising campaign held on 20th November 2009, an amount of £20.3 million was raised when the lines closed last Friday.

With almost 50% of this amount being pledged online, the power of the internet has yet again raised it's head. And with donations and fund raising events still ongoing, the final figure is expected to be announced in the first or second quarter of 2010.

Speaking about the latest Children in Need campaign, Mark Burdett of NCi Charity, the UK Charity Insurance Broker had this to say, "I think it's amazing that despite the country still being in recession that the British general public still find the time and money to support this amazing campaign. I know charities have found 2009 extremely difficult but I would prefer to focus on the superb achievement of raising over £20 million so far rather than focus on the fact that the total was slightly down on last year."

Mark went on to add, "I think it's important to remember that although Friday night was the main event, donations can still be made by visiting http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/donate/ and every penny really does count."
